Civil liberties groups have attacked a grammar school’s decision to install surveillance equipment inside two of its classrooms. The boys-only Gravesend Grammar confirmed to Kent on Sunday it would be recording selected lessons next year to “help new teachers develop their professional skills”. However, opponents say the scheme shows no respect for privacy and will be of no training benefit because people act unnaturally when they are being filmed

More than 300 cameras soon will be keeping a closer watch on students at six Charleston County schools. The Charleston Police Department has received a federal grant of more than $250,000 to enhance security systems at the schools, and the school district will match the grant
